Finantia’s activity began in 1987, as a financial services company, relying on national private investors. The public deed was held on July 31, 1987.

The first foreign investors of Finantia – International Management and Financial Consultancy, S.A. are Dupont Denand (Paris) and Wallace Smith (London). In 1988, Finantia joins Goldman Sachs and becomes an investment company. A year later, it began managing the first Treasury Fund in Portugal, the Lloyds Short Term. The banking license would arrive in 1992.
